Until the 1800s all dyeing was done with materials from nature - flowers, plants, roots, mud and even bugs. After the invention of chemical dyes, natural dyeing fell into disuse. I started dyeing with natural dyes in the 90s and planted my first dye garden in the parkway in front of our home in urban San Diego.
Two years ago I started my dye garden on Otra Banda and it continues to flourish. We are now able to offer dried natural dye materials for home use.
All dye materials are $18 a pound with a half pound minimum. Call or e-mail for availability.
