Navajo Tea (Cota)

Before there was coffee in New Mexico there was Navajo Tea (Cota - Thelesperma megapotamicum) - a traditional beverage of many Spanish New Mexicans. Alone or mixed with Spearmint or Poleo, it’s useful as a mild diuretic, for indigestion and mild fevers and is a good tea for convalescence. It has been has been a widely used folk remedy for arthritis, kidney and blood complaints.
